Fear Faire celebrated “Halfway to Halloween” and Friday the 13th in spooky style

Although we’re just past the halfway point until Halloween (April 30th being the officially recognized date and very important to some religions), Fear Faire descended upon the Rio hotel for two days of scares, spooky films, great music and delighted horror fans.

“Clowning Around” can be truly terrifying for the faint-of-heart entering the Wicked Hall!

Horror-themed decorations adorned two large rooms within the convention center: one dedicated to theme booths and celebrity appearances, the other hosted some truly wonderful live music.

Jason Voorhees reminds us that even if you “stay out of the woods”, you’re still not safe…

“I’ve always been a huge horror fan,” said Stephen Holliday. On vacation from Pittsburgh, he was eager to add Fear Faire into his and his wives’ itinerary. “When I found out about it, it was a no-brainer. We booked in at the Rio and plan on attending both days.”

Horror Icon and Jason Voorhees actor Warrington Gillette makes sure one lucky fan “gets the point” with his pickaxe prop

Other fans made the special trip to Vegas specifically to rub shoulders with, and share thrills and chills with, fellow horror fans. Making the cross country trek from Fall River, Massachusetts, Gorden Navarro let his excitement show. “It really is like Halloween in May! And to have this in Vegas, an added bonus!” Although planning to take advantage of some of the numerous tourist options Sin City has to offer, Holliday was also looking forward to maintaining his own traditions as well.

“I’m going to gamble a little, then go back to the room to watch (Friday the 13th) Part 2. I pick one every year and since I met Warrington Gillette (the actor who portrayed the murderous Jason), it has to be that one!”

Make no bones about it…Fear Faire was a horror fan’s delight!

Regardless of how each fan decided to celebrate, it was clear that horror devotee“got lucky” this Friday the 13th, and the spirit of Halloween was alive, for 2 days at least, during spring in Sin City!
