By Mark J. Bartlett

Greetings and welcome to the debut feature of the Cutlery Corner, a weekly analysis of all things sharp! A spin-off from our popular Tactical Toolbox feature, this will be the portion of our digital platform that provides in-depth looks at sporting blades, pocket knives, kitchen cutlery, swords, tools and the finest edges that serve the military and law enforcement community.  Our weekly installments will include specifications, detailed photographs and performance videos, along with all the information you will need to purchase any of the items that appear here.  If it’s sharp, there’s a good chance it’s going to end up reviewed here at the Cutlery Corner!

For this week’s entry, we have turned to our friends at Revo Knives who were kind enough to provide us with a sample which would feel at home in any pocket: the Revo Storm

Meet the Revo Storm

Meet the Revo Storm – an exciting new addition to our collection that represents our first foray into the world of crossbar lock design folders. As aficionados of finely crafted blades, we envisioned a knife that not only radiates a bold style but also delivers unmatched functionality. The Storm, featuring an innovative crossbar lock, underscores our dedication to pushing the boundaries of innovation and performance.

Designed with the discerning user in mind – those who value precision and ease in their knife use – the crossbar lock in the Revo Storm ensures smooth opening and closing dynamics. What makes it stand out is its ambidextrous operation, accommodating both left and right-handed users. The reversible clip adds another layer of flexibility, allowing for effortless carry on either side.

The opening mechanism strikes a balance between efficiency and subtlety – a low-profile flipper that facilitates quick deployment without drawing unnecessary attention in your pocket. Crafted to protrude just enough for rapid use, it remains discreet, catering to those who prioritize performance and convenience. The integration of finger grooves into the G10 handles enhances the Storm’s ergonomic design, ensuring a secure grip in any situation.

In terms of aesthetics, the Revo Storm is available in two captivating colors, each with its unique charm. Choose between the striking combination of Black G10 with a PVD black-coated blade or the rugged OD Green G10 with a stonewash blade. The handles feature a refined grip texture, adding a touch of sophistication to the knife’s overall look.

Versatility takes center stage, as the Revo Storm offers a choice between two blade profiles – the adaptable Drop Point and the more assertive Wharncliffe. This variety caters to different preferences and intended uses, ensuring that the Storm adapts precisely to your cutting needs. At the core of this premium Revo model is VG10, a meticulously chosen blade steel known for its exceptional edge retention. Whether tackling everyday tasks or more demanding challenges, the Revo Storm’s VG10 blade guarantees reliability and longevity, establishing it as a knife crafted for excellence.

Specifications:

  • BLADE: VG10
  • HANDLES: G10
  • BLADE LENGTH: 3.2″
  • OVERALL: 7.2″
  • WEIGHT: 4.6 OZ

Looking at the specifications, the Revo Storm boasts a VG10 blade, G10 handles, a 3.2-inch blade length, a total length of 7.2 inches, and a weight of 4.6 ounces. Each dimension is carefully selected to contribute to the knife’s overall balance, making it a trustworthy companion for those who demand the best in both form and function.

In terms of cutting performance, the Storm excels in a variety of tests. In a hair shave test, the knife easily shaved off arm hair with minimal effort.

The paper slice test was also a breeze, with the knife easily cutting through a single sheet of paper with a clean edge, and finely shaving slices as well, making it a useful implement for fire making in an outdoor setting. The knife was also able to slice through quarter-inch free standing nylon rope with equal efficiency, showing off its versatility as an outdoor knife, reliable utility tool and formidable self-defense option.

The aluminum can test was also passed with flying colors, with the knife slicing through tough materials cleanly and easily, with minimal scoffing of the blade and no appreciable damage to the cutting edge.

The cardboard cut test was another success, with the knife making quick work of a standard cardboard box.  Notorious for claiming the fine edge of brand-new blades and sending them to the honing stone for some remedial work, cardboard here was no match for the Storm, which retained hair-splitting sharpness after our rather daunting demands.

In all, The Revo Storm comes in as an attractive, durable and high performing piece of pocket cutlery that will offer you keen-edged reliability for many years to come.  Be sure to stop by https://revoknives.com/ and give this model a serious look, we are confident you will want to add a Revo Storm to your cutlery collection!
